Fort Davis, TX is one of the special places in my heart. As a kid, I had the opportunity to visit my cousins in (and around) Fort Davis and fell in love with the people and the area.
Fort Davis is best known for the Fort Davis National Historic Site. This key military fort was established in 1854 to protect emigrants, freighters, mail coaches and travelers on the San Antonio-El Paso Road. In the 1930’s the Civilian Conservation Corps built the Indian Lodge, a beautiful pueblo-style adobe hotel just outside of Fort Davis in the Davis Mountains State Park.
This image was taken from the courtyard, looking up from behind the beautiful Indian Lodge.
